Spread The Word And Nourish The Soul

Image
One of God’s main tasks for people is to spread his Word. Not only does this help people who will be learning about the many wonderful things Christianity has to offer, but it’s also a fantastic opportunity for the person spreading the Word to nourish their own soul. This is the spiritual benefit of evangelism for the evangelist.                              Image source: tabletmag.com Evangelism is also amazing for young people. Often, they get to share the Good News in groups and therefore have the chance to learn from one another with the best lessons in written history. Young individuals also get to face the same challenges and lend each other a hand to overcome these obstacles. And since people only get to be young once, for many young evangelists, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Spreading the Gospel can also sometimes come as a shock to people who see the other side, the grittier, less fortunate side of the world for the first time. Nothing fosters em

Who or What Really Created the Universe?

One of the biggest debates among mankind over the years is how the world came into being. Was it really God, or was it the Big Bang? Psalm 19:1 in the Bible tells us that “the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.” His handiwork. His. Handiwork. That tells us right there two things: (1) that God is the one who created the universe and (2) that God considers his creation to be an achievement. It’s something He accomplished, not something that happened by happenstance. So He is worthy of our praise for being the master creator, according to Calvary Houston. Take a well-written, best-selling novel, for example. When you look at this novel, your first thought likely isn’t “Wow, I wonder how that book came into being….” Instead, you realize that someone was instrumental in writing the words in this book, and, of course, a book publisher was likely involved in the process. In the same way, everything around us -- from one galaxy to the next and everyth

The challenge of turning the other cheek

Image
In a world where retribution seems the only way to show fairness and justice even in untruthful situations, Jesus calls for His followers to “turn the other cheek”. Many are torn between this and “an eye for an eye”. These two sayings were based on two different circumstances.  Image source: Mormon.org “An eye for an eye” became a standard for judgment, yet has been loosely followed by the Jews to the advantage of their vindictive intentions. The statement is only applicable after the circumstances of the offender have been weighed by the priests and the judges. Through the years, the Jews have used this to fuel personal vendettas, returning more evil than originally received.  Jesus came to set straight the path of the wicked and to bring them to redemption. In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructed His followers to “turn the other cheek”. A slap is meant to cause insult to provoke a reaction or a confrontation. What Jesus meant by saying this is that a pe

Things you need to know about total surrender

Image
Surrender doesn’t mean loss, especially when one replaces bad things for great things from God. Emotional baggage, heartache, fear, and other things that cripple a person’s spirit can be surrendered to Jesus. He has come to give His children a life more abundant than any being can ever promise. Image source: lifejourney.wordpress.com The heart and the mind battle all the time , and surrender is a battle term. Surrendering to Christ means giving up everything a person could be holding on to, may it be his wealth, emotions, value, and other things that keep one from yielding to the Lord.  The heart is the most difficult to surrender to Him . A person’s heart can be the most deceiving, and it can be a cause for one to not let God move freely in His life. Christians must learn that their feelings can be subjected to God.  God demands a total surrender of one’s being ; it’s a daily process. The battle happens everyday, and choosing to live for Christ—denying onese
